The United States is the kingdom of pickups, so if a car manufacturer wants to introduce somewhere with such a vehicle, there it is. Hyundai showed off its first pickup truck, which took place in Sunny California. In this case, the sports adventure car – also known as the Hyundai Santa Cruz – fits like a glove.
The Hyundai Santa Cruz is a small pickup truck by American standards because it is only 4.97m long and 1.69m high, so it is much smaller and shorter than its rivals Toyota Tacoma or Honda Ridgeline. That’s how it is, Hyundai wants to stir a bit in this segment, offering a pickup with a styling that looks cleaner than angular trucks. Users should have the same app and fun in town.
On the front, the Hyundai Santa Cruz is very similar to the Ducen SUV, but has a wheelbase of almost 25cm. Behind the two-row cabin is a minimum of 1.23 m of open luggage space. For the safety of the cargo carried, the cage is covered with a lid. In addition, under the second row seats, there are compartments for small luggage.
The interior also strongly resembles the Ducen, which is aesthetically pleasing and comfortable, making travelers on the Hyundai Santa Cruz feel like an SUV or crossover. The equipment includes two 10-inch screens – in the center, a touchscreen for multimedia function (standard 8-inch) and an indicator display (optional). Bose audio can also be ordered as an option. Pickup has also received an army of truck assistants and is somewhat stable – for example, providing anti-collision system standards with pedestrian and cyclist detection, alley assistant and driving fatigue detection.
Hyundai Santa Cruise for urban and off-road adventures
Two 2.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engines are chosen. In the basic version, the Hyundai Santa Cruz is powered by a naturally preferred engine that has a capacity of over 193 hp and a maximum torque of 244 Nm. This engine is mated to an 8-speed classic “automatic”. The most powerful variant is the turbocharged engine with 278 hp and maximum torque of 420 hp, which is fitted with an 8-speed dual clutch transmission.
As for an adventure car, the Hyundai Santa Cruz, regardless of engine version, has 4×4 drive and the ability to pull a solid trailer – weighing almost 1.6 tons for the weaker version and 2.3 tons for the stronger version.
Hyundai Santa Cruz will be manufactured at the Alabama plant. It will go on sale in the US market in the summer.
